Scar Removal
Scars are a common outcome of severe acne, surgical procedures, accidents, or chickenpox. While scars may improve over time, it’s essential to seek early intervention to promote collagen growth and enhance remodeling, ultimately minimizing their appearance. Various types of scars have diverse optimal treatment options, typically classified as hypertrophic or atrophic subtypes.
Hypertrophic (raised) scars can significantly benefit from a combination of laser treatments that target blood vessels and deep laser resurfacing, and in some cases, steroid injections may be used.
On the other hand, atrophic scars (depressed) come in different variations, including those with sharp and soft edges. Scars with sharp edges, such as acne and surgery scars, can be treated with resurfacing lasers or by removing the scar surgically and re-suturing it properly. Scars with soft edges are easier to handle and can be treated with fillers injected into the scar or by stimulating the production of collagen using lighter non-ablative resurfacing lasers. Additionally, we provide subcision treatment, a minimally invasive surgical method that involves breaking the scar tissue using a special needle while stimulating new collagen formation to elevate the scar.
Stretch marks can also be considered as atrophic scars that result from overstretching of the skin due to pregnancy or weight gain. We utilize advanced techniques such as collagen-stimulating lasers, microneedling sessions, radiofrequency microneedling, and home care to improve their texture and appearance.
At The Skin Clinic, we understand the unique challenges associated with scar removal and offer customized, effective solutions to suit your needs.
